Chester Zoo

Just over 100 years ago the Mayor of Chester, Benjamin Chaffers Roberts, rebuilt a charming Victorian mansion on the outskirts of Chester called Oakfield House. In the early 1930's George Mottershead bought the house, together with the surrounding gardens, and turned it into one of the world's most beautiful and highly acclaimed Zoos.

The Oakfield Manor House, set in 110 acres of award winning zoological gardens and having views of our spectacular animal collection, is a unique venue for weddings, civil partnership ceremonies, renewal of vows, private parties and naming ceremonies. Charming and elegant, our mahogany panelled Terrace Room provides a sophisticated setting for civil weddings, civil partnership ceremonies or renewal of vows.
